Huawei's chief executive officer for consumer business, Richard Yu, called on Chinese companies to increase their own chip production. This was reported by the portal cnTechPost. In May 2019, the US Department of Commerce blacklisted Huawei, banning free cooperation with American manufacturers. A year later, these measures were also extended to foreign companies using American technologies in production. Richard Yu said that this should serve as a lesson for other Chinese companies that are engaged only in the development of chips, trusting production to foreign partners.
