Russia calls for investigation of leaks of UN reports on DPRK
The Russian side called to investigate the leaks of confidential expert reports on compliance with Security Council sanctions against the DPRK in the media, Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky said on his Twitter page on August 4. We regret that the confidential report of UN experts on the DPRK again hit the press, we condemn such a practice, which can have serious consequences, he wrote. According to Reuters, China made a similar call to the UN secretariat. They explained that Beijing adheres to sanctions against Pyongyang and will continue to support efforts to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula, but confidential documents on these issues should not fall into the press. Recall that a day earlier, data from a report was published in the Western media, the compilers of which claimed that the DPRK continues to develop nuclear weapons.
