EU Council to discuss expansion of sanctions against Belarus


EU foreign ministers are discussing the escalation of violence in Belarus, which arose during the suppression by the authorities of the post-Soviet republic of mass protests against the permanent rule of Alexander Lukashenko that have not stopped since August 9. After that, the EU Foreign Affairs Council will consider expanding sanctions against official Minsk.
