Swedish amusement parks will continue to operate with all restrictions
On June 22, Swedish Interior Minister Michael Damberg announced that the Swedish government did not intend to lift restrictions on the operation of amusement parks in the country. Earlier, business representatives demanded relief from the ban on holding public events, the number of participants of which exceeds 50 people. This was announced on June 22 by the Swedish agency SVT Nyheter. The activities of amusement parks in Sweden are regulated by legislation on public events. The problem for business is that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Swedish authorities have banned any mass events with more than 50 participants. Many restrictions of a advisory nature have recently been lifted in Sweden. However, this ban remained in force, which was opposed by the owners of the amusement parks. In turn, Interior Minister Mikael Damberg said that no exceptions to the current ban are supposed. There are large groups whose representatives would like exceptions to this rule, but the restrictions mean that we will not make any exceptions during the summer. We have eased restrictions so that people, if they are healthy, would be able to travel and relax throughout Sweden, the minister said.
