Volkswagen agrees to a settlement agreement on diesel gate

The German concern Volkswagen stopped the trial in Germany, which was called diesel gate, agreeing to sign a settlement agreement. This is reported by Lesechos. The car manufacturer must pay the affected customers 750 million euros. To date, Volkswagen has accepted 235,000 applications for which it offers compensation. According to one Volkswagen representative, the car manufacturer offered affected customers compensation in the amount of 1,350 to 6,250 euros depending on the type and age of the car. Initially 260,000 customers were entitled to compensation totalling up to 830 million euros. According to the publication, 17,000 applications are still being verified. In addition, the diesel scandal has not yet completely ended. Clients living abroad can sue the German concern. As previously reported by the news agency, the diesel gate or diesel scandal began in September 2015. At that time, it was revealed that the cars of Volkswagen Concern, which were produced in 2009 2015, were installed software that allows to circumvent environmental standards.
