Xi Jinping's anti-reating in US hits new low - poll

As attitudes toward China have deteriorated, US residents have also become worse at Chinese President Xi Jinping. According to the Pew Research Center, seven in ten U.S. residents say they have no certainty that Xi is doing the right thing in world affairs. This is the highest figure since the Centre first asked the question in 2014. Only 22% say they trust the Chinese leader, down 15 percentage points from last year. The drop in confidence between 2019 and 2020 is particularly noticeable. While views on Xi Jinping have been fairly stable over the past few years, staying within 10 percentage points, in the past year alone the percentage of those who have become worse treated has risen by 21 points. This shift occurred among Republicans and Democrats alike, as well as among the elderly and young residents of the United States. The survey, which was conducted in March in the United States, was attended by 1,000 adult citizens of the country.
