Compact Volkswagen cars could deprive diesel engine
The German car manufacturer Volkswagen may stop producing modifications of compact cars with diesel engine, said the technical director of the automobile corporation Mattias Rabe. This is reported on the website of the Motor.ru. According to Rabe, diesel units in the future can remain only at all-road vehicles and commercial vehicles. This is due to the tightening of European environmental standards. In order to upgrade small-scale turbocharged motors to Euro-7 standards, the company will have to invest a lot of funds, which in turn will make diesel cars very expensive. Thus, refining diesel engines for Polo and Golf cars will not be economically profitable. However, according to Rabe, for heavy off-road vehicles diesel engines will remain relevant. Recall, by 2025 in the European Union it is planned to introduce environmental norms Euro-7. Read also: Volkswagen plans to reduce the model range of crosshairs
