The new company will produce the first car of the super-sport model under the brand Hongqi. The municipal authorities of Changchun, Jilin Province in the northeast of the country, FAW Group and SILK EV LLC held a video conference on further plans for the development of the Hongqi S. SILK EV LLC series of projects will invest 10 million yuan (About $1.42 billion) over the next five years in the creation of products under the brand Hongqi S. In particular, it is about the development of a series of luxury sports cars, which in the future should get worldwide glory. The company's headquarters are located in New York City. It has its own research and production centre in Italian Modena. The first sports car of the Hongqi model S9 was first presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2019. It is stated that the maximum speed of the car reaches 400 km/h with acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 1.9 seconds. It is equipped with the latest V8T horsepower 1400 engine. In the first quarter of this year the company sold a total of 25 thousand cars, which is 88% higher than a year earlier. Hongqi means red flag in Chinese and is China's most recognizable car brand. It was established in 1958 and has since produced cars for solemn parades and national celebrations.
