South Sudan authorities and opposition to discuss government formation

South Sudan authorities will meet with the opposition in an effort to negotiate and form a government, Anadolu Ajansi reported on February 9. The reason for the meeting was the inability of political leaders to agree and establish a coalition government. The deadline for this expires in 13 days. Recall, in September 2018 in Addis Ababa was signed an agreement on the terms of formation of the government, which was to be created in May 2019. The deadline was then extended until February 2020. The crisis in South Sudan has continued since December 2013, when President Salva Kiir fired Vice President Riek Machar, leading to a long civil war. The conflict is now close to a settlement.
