Huawei top manager calls for expansion of chip production in China

Huawei's chief executive officer for consumer business, Richard Yu, called on Chinese companies to increase their own chip production. This was reported by the portal cnTechPost. In May 2019, the US Department of Commerce blacklisted Huawei, banning free cooperation with American manufacturers. A year later, these measures were also extended to foreign companies using American technologies in production. Richard Yu said that this should serve as a lesson for other Chinese companies that are engaged only in the development of chips, trusting production to foreign partners. He called on different companies to join forces to accelerate the development of semiconductor production in China. Earlier, Bloomberg, citing industry sources, reported that in China's 14th five-year plan, the government plans to significantly expand support measures for electronic industry enterprises. As the news agency previously reported, in September it became known that the US government is considering blacklisting China's largest manufacturer of integrated circuits Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation.
