124 coronavirus carriers identified in Albania per day

On September 25, the Albanian Ministry of Health reported that over the past day, as a result of a survey of 808 samples in the country, another 124 cases of coronavirus infection were detected. Over the past day, three patients with COVID-19 died. A number of sources note that statistics on COVID-19 mortality in Albania are underestimated. Indirect evidence of this is the discrepancy in daily mortality below five people with more than five thousand active infections, while in North Macedonia, with 2.5 times less active cases (and the same population), mortality is almost 10 people daily. The department notes that 5363 people are being treated for COVID-19 in the country. Around 1,600 family therapists supervise treatment at home. There are 178 patients on inpatient treatment, 18 of them are undergoing intensive therapy, six of them are connected to IVL devices. The largest number of active infections was found in Tirana (2651), in the port city of Durres (587) and in Shkodra (375). However, every day, over 80 per cent of the infections detected are in smaller cities. There is a rapid deterioration in the situation in the country: the number of daily infections is steadily higher than 100, while the number of recovers is many times lower. The country's medical system is heading for collapse. The situation is complicated by the beginning of the school year.
