Land communication with Iran was terminated for two weeks by a decision of the interdepartmental commission to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in Armenia. This was announced on February 24 by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Facebook. According to the Commission's decision, land traffic was terminated for a full two weeks and air traffic was restricted. Cargo transport with Iran will be carried out without restrictions, but drivers will be subject to a special control regime. At the same time, it is specified that no restrictions will be applied for citizens of Iran and Armenia returning to their homeland. Such measures were taken in response to the increasing number of coronavirus cases in Iran. The decision of the commission, according to Pashinyan, will be approved at the absentee meeting of the government. Earlier, the news agency reported the closure of the border with Iran due to the outbreak of coronavirus by Turkey and Afghanistan.
